Fly Away

There’s actually plenty of brand related news I should be sharing, but, Taylor just informed me about this video, and I felt compelled to give it a quick blog post. I don’t know if I would actually do this, but, I’m a fan of lucid dreaming, so I’m gonna give it a try later tonight (in my dreams, literally). Regardless, feast your eyes:

Sneakers to the Ceiling

I’ve never been much of a sneaker head. In fact, I actually wear a lot of hand me downs from my father, Vans and all other shit that bucks trends and makes you feel “fucking dope”. Regardless, last year, a talented man by the name of Lex 1 introduced himself to me, said he was a store owner and hip-hop artist from Florida; he was in California doing some shows, talking to some people. Sure enough, dude scooped up a good amount of tees for himself and his girl back home, and I just came up on this video, “Sneakers to the Ceiling”, where he’s sporting our Danny Tanner is a Robot Tee. If you’re wondering where you can pick it up, maybe wait a few weeks? Who knows. Sneakerheads, relish, and stay up on Major League:

Jimmy Kimmel; Why Not?

Someone get Gata some new FLY.ROBOT shwag. We got some January and February releases coming at you, always stay tuned! Happy first day of the year by the way…

2008, Good Riddance

Screw a longwinded 2008 post. 2008 was cool. Cool new retailers for our young brand, next year is the wild year. Whether good or bad, it will be wild…I hope to look back at this post on New Years Eve in 2009, and say “Damn, it was wild.” I’m gonna say “YES” to a lot more things, you’re going to see a lot more product, you’re gonna see a lot more fun. Thanks for coming a long for the ride.

Oh yeah, last night a few of us went out and witnessed Wafeek drop trousers amidst some random company. Oh yeah, and maybe by the end of next year I might have a new camera and this tradition of posting pictures from my camera phone will come to a sad end. Until then, stay safe and see you next year. Enjoy:

If You Don’t Know the Name, You Know the Game

KAWS back in 1997.

What is Up?

What’s up with people not helping each other? I asked this one guy who I thought did nice work on a particular canvas, “Where did you get that canvas?”, and he said “Sorry, I don’t disclose my sources”. I promptly wanted to say, “Fuck you asshole, your shit wasn’t that cool to begin with.” Since I was in a professional setting, I told him that I understood, and under my breath wished him to trip over his shoe laces and embarrass himself later in the day.

This brings me to a time a few years ago when I was helped by someone I now look up to. I saw this clothing brand with these awesome clothes, they went by the name “Gold Coin“. They probably don’t remember this at all, but I had hit up the owner to ask him a question about making clothes, something very trivial but something that would in turn help me out quite a bit. He had no reason to help me at all, I was but an annoying kid begging for a handout of knowledge. Without hesitation, the guy I spoke with answered my question, and more, telling me where I could get clothes printed, tagged, the works. Not only did this earn him some mad good karma I’m sure, he gained one more solid fan to his brand, and everyone who ever asked me about what I thought about their clothing, I had nothing but dedicated positive comments to spread.

I guess, lesson-in-short, nothing good ever comes from shitting on someone and acting holier-than-thou. No one is ever cool enough to not share information, help someone out, get to know someone, blah, blah, blah, blah.

On that note, if you guys ever need any help, whether with your brand, website questions, love life (probably shouldn’t ask me about that anyways, but, I’ll be cynical for you), don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail: elie*@flyrobotclothing.com (take the star out). I’ll try my best to answer anything I might have an answer for. With that, I’m off! BTW, Karmaloop’s sale is still at 50% until the end of the year. Make sure to get that cheap product while you can!

Thanks for the coverage Chelsea! Merry Christmas everyone!

FTW = Cold Weather + Chinese Food + Christmas Shopping

It’s freezing in Southern California right now. I love it. I’m sure I’m thought of as a pussy in most everywhere beyond the bubble that is Orange County, but it’s so novel to enjoy some cold weather and rain for a change. Regardless, that is neither here nor there. The past couple days have been very fun for our young brand…we’re still nothing but your local neighborhood philosophers, but it’s always nice to have people picking up and enjoying our new collection. Lately, it’s been nothing but packing orders, weathering the rain (Pun attempted?) and Christmas shopping.

(By the way, we don’t print on Hanes tees. They just make really nice cardboard boxes for shipping.)

A few more awesome retail spots have graciously backed us this year and into the next, and they will be receiving their holiday pieces (and some vintage pieces!) earlier next week…we will be sure to keep updating the retailers page and of course will give them a proper introduction here on the blog. After 9-5’s of shipping, floundering in the cold and watching entire seasons of Entourage, we had to head out and finish up some last minute shopping.

Marc’s rocking the new Amen hoodie at Best Buy, hope you guys enjoy the details on the back.

So after Best Buy we made our way to the Block of Orange, and at a local Gamestop, we found this interesting tidbit of information. Did you know a used version of the new Call of Duty video game is more expensive than the unopened new retail version? Don’t get duped homies!

After seeing this, we met up with our boy Taylor to enjoy some Twin Dragons chinese food and so he could show us his latest purchase, “Slang Flash Cards”. Anyways, just in case I forget to wish everyone this tomorrow or the day after…Merry Christmas…Happy Holidays…whatever you celebrate, happy that! Stay safe

Wally Champ Explains

I realized today that I don’t take much time to explain the meanings behind a lot of our graphic tees. I guess this stems from some advice I once garnered from one of my university professors, “You shouldn’t have to explain your art.” Well…when one of your art pieces consists of a baby in a crate, entitled “Lunch”, I feel there may be some explaining to do…luckily, our good friends at WallyChamp.com have done this deed for us.
